Lance and Lacey Blew It!

After watching the finals of Dancing with the Stars last night, I have to say that Lance and Lacey blew it. What were they thinking doing a routine with absolutely no lifts in their free style?

I get that Lance was trying to be loyal to his roots and showcase them, but he needed to be taking care of the fan base that got him this far. You can bet there were way more than hip hop fans doing that voting. I'm pretty sure the shows demographics would show a much broader base than that. It was foolish for Lance and Lacey not to take that into account when choreographing their free style.

Lifts and wild moves are what has made the free style the favorite dance of the masses. They watch all season picturing their favorites dazzling their socks off and showcasing their new found expertise. While that hip hop routine might have wowed Lance's music fans it did nothing for those of us that love the wild element the free style brings. I'm afraid they killed off any chance they had for taking a run at Brooke. We'll see what the results show has to offer but my guess is that it'll be the pretty mom/model/emcee hands down.

Leachman Leaves Dancing

Yeah!!!!!!!!! Cloris is finally off. While she might have been amusing Cloris Leachman really didn't do much for Dancing with the Stars in my book. Sure it's great to see an 82 year old with that much spunk willing to get off the couch and give it a try. But it was clear from the start that Cloris had been exactly that, a couch potato for quite a while now. There was no way she was up to the physical challenge of what Dancing requires.

I wonder if she really inspired all that many of the geriatric set to get up off their couches and do instead of sitting there watching and marveling at the fact someone of their age was actually giving it a try. I guess it's probably hard telling. My guess is the closest that most of them got to any exercises was with their dialing finger, other than that I doubt they even burned one extra calorie which is really a shame.

But for me, Cloris reminded me of what I do not want to become. I hope to keep my body going in much better condition by the time I reach her age. Although I must admit the fact that she could raise her leg up to her nose was pretty impressive. It's just that I tuned in to see dancing..........real dancing...........not comedy relief designed to cover up dancing ability. Cloris's feeble pandering to the crowd for applause was just too much for me.

If I sound cruel, I don't think it's as cruel as sending home real dancers while Cloris poked fun at the very concept. I'm for entertainment but not at the expense of what the premise of the show is supposed to be in the first place. Let's hope that things settle down now and we get to see some REAL dancing.

Dancing with the Stars Starts Tonight!

Well, despite that fact that again I haven't got a clue who most of the "stars" will be, I can hardly wait for Dancing with the Stars to begin. I find it hard to put anytime in in front of the boob tube especially during the summer. However, I'm definitely looking forward to the change of pace that Dancing brings.

Susan Lucci, the soap opera queen, is one dancer I can hardly wait to see. She's also the only name I recognize. Although I recognize the "Olympics" part of the participating athlete, the name of that athlete did not ring any bells for me. That's where my knowledge of the competitors stops. I'm not sure if I should feel pathetic or it's how far the show must scrape to get people to participate.

But back to Susan Lucci, I'm wondering how the uptight control freak, Ericca Cane is going to ever let loose enough for any of those Latin dances. My guess is that even her ballroom will be stiff and contrived but it will be fun to watch. I hope she stays on long enough to give me time to "connect" with the other dancers.

So what do you think about this year's cast of characters?

Summer Television

I just don't seem to be able to get into summer television at all. I don't know if it's because of the weather or what's on TV this time of year. All I really know for sure is that I'd just as soon pass on it.

But the newest additions sure seem to be nothing but nonsense to me. I can't imagine why anyone would want to watch some of those shows. The latest additions to ABC on Tuesday nights make no sense to me at all!. Whoever thought of Wipeout or I survived a Japanese Game Show should be shot! What where they thinking? And now they're actually advertising a whole night of BALLS! Who cares?

Then another round of The Mole seems to add insult to injury. I thought that thing died the first time around never to be resurrected again..........are these things a result of that writer's strike or are the networks trying to make a cheap buck with little, if any, effort? I'm sure sick of reality TV.

At this rate, I'll be unplugging my TV and sending it off to someone who doesn't care if they have a life.

This Baby Boomer Arabian Horses Dancing & Idol

I haven't posted on this blog in a while, not because I haven't been watching some TV , but because I'm too darn tired after working horses to stay awake once I get home. I have managed to keep up with my horse blog most of the time and the psyche blog part of the time. But coming up with something pithy to say about television just hasn't been in the cards.

I will say that currently my favorite shows on TV seem to be The Biggest Loser Couples although the couples are not more Dancing with the Stars even though there's not much in the way of stars and American Idol despite cocky Simon Cowell continuing picking or Ryan Seacrest and vice versa. I also seem to be drawn to Medium although I'm not sure I like the addition of Jessica Houston or the new DA.

In terms of what's new, I really like Eli Stone. I think it's a fresh approach at the usual law drama that has long since burned out its candle of appeal.

I'm looking forward to new seasons of Gray's Anatomy although I hope it doesn't go down the road of just toooooo graphic like E R did. Life is hard enough I don't need blood and guts in my living room. Wisteria Lane which I hope doesn't get toooo wierd and Brothers and Sisters is high on my list of dysfunctional families to visit.

That's it for my TV viewing. Unless something new and exciting pops up, I'll be spending more and more time at the barn as the days get longer. The horses are much more interesting to me than TV any day of the week.

Television - Am I Watching It - Not Likely

I haven't posted on this blog in forever. Mostly because there's not much to post about. I haven't been watching television because it's making me crazy. I've been spending time with the other two blogs instead.

Dancing with the Stars is about the most entertaining that television gets for me. Even though it's not really got much in the way of stars for me. I am looking forward to its new season but haven't a clue who most of those people are. Guess I will before it's over. While I would never jam my feet into those shoes to dance, there is something amazing watching those stars develop their dance abilities.

Dance Wars with Bruno and Carrie Anne was a disappointment to me. I really hated the fact they voted at the end of one show, danced another whole show and then sent someone home based on the singing and dancing from the week before. It just didn't appeal to my sense of fairness and made little sense to those poor souls sent home. That was a big turn off for me. I liked the concept of the show but thought it was poorly executed.

I'm sick to death of Lost. It's gotten too far out there for me. Either that or it's had way too much hidden meaning stuff for my tired old brain to keep track of. It's just not relaxing television.

The new bachelor has already p*ssed me off with his comment he's here to steal our women. It strikes me like some cave man and I'm way too liberated for that. Just ask my husband. The very fact that twenty four women don't care about themselves enough to through themselves at the mercy of one man on international television make me sad. I think they all need help even if it is supposed to be good television.

Actually, lately my favorite tv watch is the Biggest Loser. I do think that show is changing people's lives. Some more than others but hey with the obesity epidemic in this country at least someone isn't burying their head in the sand. I like that they are showing more of the diet stuff and exercises we can do at home.

American Idol is back. I totally avoided the tryouts this year. I just cannot stand to see those people humliating themselves in that manner. I think it's sad, that's all there is too it. I did miss the first weeks in Hollywood but am not sure that I missed much. I am sick of Simon being cruel. I think the man should be able to express his opinion without being downright mean!
